Cancer Program Accreditation
GENERAL INFORMATION

Have you or someone you love been diagnosed with cancer?  If so, you have many decisions to make. We can help.

Approximately 71 percent of all newly diagnosed cancer patients in the United States are treated in the more than 1,400 facilities that are accredited by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons. Accreditation of a cancer center is granted only to those facilities that have voluntarily committed to provide the best in cancer diagnosis and treatment and are able to comply with established CoC standards.  Receiving care at a CoC-accredited cancer program hospital or facility ensures that you will receive:

  • Quality care close to home
  • Comprehensive care offering a range of state-of-the-art services
  • A multispecialty team approach to coordinate the best treatment options available
  • Information about cancer clinical trials and new treatment options
  • Access to cancer-related information, education and support
  • A cancer registry that collects data on cancer type, stage, and treatment results, and offers lifelong patient follow-up
  • Ongoing monitoring and improvements in care.

The American College of Surgeons does not warrant or make any guarantees or assurances related to outcomes of treatment provided by institutions that have cancer programs accredited by the Commission on Cancer.
